What is it about college football that attracts such a huge following? I haven't followed it since Doug Flutie?

I don't understand why anyone would be interested in college ball unless they're an alumnus of that college. But there's no sport that is discussed more on the ground than college football. The pretentious reason used to be that college players don't play for money but for the love of the game. That notion bit the dust 30 years ago with Hershell Walker, who was a millionaire in endorsements alone while he was still in the college ranks. I frankly don't understand the interest in the inferior brand of football played in college.

Is this a question or a rant? The answer is because, with the expection of a few people over the years (and USC in general)...all college kids are infact playing for love & passion of the game, not for money...and for a chance to get to the NFL. Therefore it's alot more exciting and the kids are playing alot harder. Plus it deals more with state pride and regional orientation. The styles & gameplans between the northeast, midwest, southwest, west, and south are all completely different and exciting in their own way. It's also much more storied & US history oriented. Also, there are states (like Oklahoma) with an elite college program but no pro teams to speak of. The NFL, which i do love but not nearly as much, gets extremely boring & predictable. Drop back passing, boring routes, run it up the middle. That's it. College ball is real ball...the NFL feels more like the WWF (WWE...whatever) or nascar sometimes...

Look...I know that the NFL is all that's talked about in the trailer park...but don't take it out on us because people are crazy about college ball outside of the twin pines mobile home court, ok?

If you play trivia and are interested in facts related to the sport of American football, then you’re in the right place.
As I’m sure you know, there are thousands of resources for trivia, especially in relationship to football. So, in this article, I’m going to give you a brief overview of this information as well as some facts that you’ve probably never heard before.

•    In 1993, the Kansas City Chiefs made off-season trades for Joe Montana and Marcus Allen. The following season the Chiefs just missed the Super Bowl when they lost to the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship.
•    The Green Bay Packers hold the record for the NFL team that has remained in its founding city for the longest period of time. The Packers franchise was established in Green Bay in the year 1957.
•    The highest combined score in Super Bowl history occurred when the San Diego Chargers lost by a score of 26-49 when they played the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX. The combined score of this game is 75.
•    In 1974 the rule of sudden death overtime was added to the NFL game policy. Many other rules were changed at the same time. For example, kickoffs were moved to the 35-yard line from the 40-yard line.
•    Beattie feathers of the Chicago Bears was the first person in NFL history to rush for more than 1000 yards in a single season. He accomplished this feat in the year 1934 when he rushed for 1004 yards in only 119 carries.
•    The first NFL night game was won by the Philadelphia Athletics in the year 1902. They defeated the Kanaweola Athletic Club at Elmira, New York on November 21st.
•    The first football team to win the NCAA Division II football championship was Louisiana Tech. They haven’t won a championship since that time in 1973.
•    The last person to drop kick an extra point in an NFL game was Doug Flutie. He did this in 2006.
•    The Dick Butkus award is in annual award that is given to the top linebacker in college football. It was first awarded to Brian Bosworth of Oklahoma University in 1985.
•    The NFL record for the most punts blocked in a single season is held by Harry Newsom of the Pittsburgh Steelers who blocked an amazing six punts in 1988.
Of course, like I said in the beginning of the article, this information is barely anything compared to the vast amounts of football trivia that are available. However, if you are just getting into trivia, this information is a great start for you.
